KIOSK TOUCHSCREEN INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS

Touchscreens - intuitive and easy for any user to use

Touchscreen kiosks are one of the most popular interactive mediums available for presenting information to your audience. Touchscreens are intuitive and easy to use. Information on each screen is limited in number and options, thereby providing step-by-step sequences to guide the user through the display. This makes everyone an "expert user" from the first touch.

As an artist, I create image-rich touchscreen projects which present information in a visually engaging manner for both adults and younger users. This approach lends itself to a touchscreen environment as the user is engaged visually as they are led through the information process. All of my projects are individually created to suit the Client's requirements. My special interest is in educational touchscreen projects for children, as I create my own characters and artwork for each project. Below are two examples of recent kiosk touchscreen projects I have created.

REDCLIFFE HERITAGE TRAIL BAY KIDS
Heritage Trail - Museum Touchscreen Interactive Project

The Redcliffe Heritage Trail touchscreen project was created to provide location and historical information to Museum visitors interested in Redcliffe Peninsula Heritage history.

The Home page has touch entry points, represented by icons of heritage buildings, which take the user to each suburb screen. The suburb screens in turn have icons for each heritage site located in that suburb. These icons take the user to an information screen with "then and now" photographs and historical information about each heritage site.

Navigation buttons appear on every screen allowing the user to move freely throughout the project. A short animation and information screen are placed at the start of the touchscreen project as an introduction. A screen saver shows when the project is inactive for a period of time.

Children's Interactive Educational Kiosk Project

This interactive children's educational touchscreen display was designed to create awareness of the local marine environment.

It has an underwater theme with four touch entry points. Three games, all with an educational focus, have been created to entertain and educate young users on marine environmental issues:

  • Catcher game - features a snorkeller catching rubbish carelessly thrown out of his boat by a fisherman into the ocean.
  • Flip Game - a matching game played by identifying marine creatures.
  • Quiz - questions about the Museum's local marine area.

The fourth entry point from the main screen contains information and interesting facts about the local environment and Bay area.
